THE RADIANT DANCE TEACHER

Mariah-Jane Thies is an award-winning Canadian dance educator with a 40-year career dedicated to innovative and holistic training. Specialising in ballet and modern, she draws from brain science on stress, learning and developmental movement to create The Radiant Dance Teacher course suite to enhance both technical skills and embodied and real learning.

A registered RAD teacher, mentor, and teacher supervisor, Mariah-Jane holds a dance teacher degree from GMCC and is a certified Evans Laban-based Modern teacher. Her expertise and certifications extend into Brain Gym and Rhythmic Movement Training, where she focuses on integrating primitive and postural reflexes to optimize movement, learning, and performance.

In 2024, she was honoured with the RAD Innovation in Dance Teacher Award for her groundbreaking work on the ideal brain state for learning and performance and her leadership in building The Radiant Dance Teacher, a thriving community of 3,000 educators.

A sought-after speaker, Mariah-Jane presents internationally at conferences such as IADMS, NDEO, RAD, Body-Mind Centering and the World Congress of Dance, continually pushing the boundaries of dance education.

Deborah Vogel has been active in the dance medicine field since 1978. Her mentor, Irene Dowd, inspired her to integrate her teaching with movement analysis and she became a neuromuscular educator. Positive Parenting Programs for parents and Carers (including Teachers)

Under the Australian Government’s Parenting Education and Support Program, Triple P is providing free and easily accessible online programs to all parents and carers in Australia. As part of the national initiative, we currently offer three online programs: Triple P Online, Fear-Less Triple P Online, and Triple P Online for Baby. For a sneak peek into the online programs, you can watch a demonstration video here: https://youtu.be/9CvxEsGqZgc

We specifically recommend Triple P Online and Fear-Less Triple P Online. Here’s a brief outline of each program below:

  • Triple P Online (0-12 years)
    • This program focuses on setting children up with the skills needed to develop positive relationships with others and be successful in life. It touches on general themes of resiliency, and is designed to help boost children’s emotional wellbeing by setting good habits.
  • Fear-Less Triple P Online (6+ years)
    • For parents/carers of children who struggle with anxiety. It helps parents to understand more about anxiety (and how to reduce it), and teaches them how to support their children in developing skills to cope with challenging situations.

Both programs are completely free for parents and carers in Australia, accessible on demand, and are split into ‘bite-sized’ pieces so that parents work through them at their own pace. Parents can sign up for the programs by following the prompts here – https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au/

Meet Scott putman

Scott Putman is a choreographer, movement educator, director and writer integrating contemporary ballet and modern techniques into practices deeply influenced by eastern philosophy, neuro science and contemporary physics.

He is the creator of the Elemental Body Alignment System© (EBAS) and Fundamental Conscious Movement (FCM); both of which support a holistic approach of remapping neural muscular pathways, expanding greater range of motion as well as encouraging qualitative expression for a more authentic and holistic movement practice.

Since graduating with a BFA in Dance and Choreography in from Columbia College, he has created dance works focused on the belief that choreography is the art of shaping energy in space. Scott has also danced with both modern and ballet companies such as Mordine and Company Dance Theater, Ballet Theater of Chicago, Minnesota Ballet, Demetrius Klein Dance Company as well as his own company Cerulean Dance Theater in addition to several independent choreographers such as Bob Eisen and Randy Duncan.

After extensive performing, Scott returned to the academic arena at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) where he received his MFA exploring the parallels of modern physics and eastern philosophy as a vehicle of expression and physical training.

Directly after his time at UCI he was invited to join the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University in the department of Dance and Choreography as a visiting professor which turned into a 22 year run as a tenured professor teaching across the curriculum in both the technical and creative tracks. During this time he continued to develop his choreographic vision with Amaranth Contemporary Dance and shared EBAS levels I and II with the student body.

Most recently Scott has turned to weaving his skills in Neuro-Kinesiology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Thai Body Work and Equine Assisted Learning under the umbrella of Emerald Energetics which focuses on movement, sound, light and equine assisted wellness. He continues to create three dimensional kinetic landscapes for professional dance companies and universities world wide.
