Teacher Training and Education
WA Classical Ballet Teachers’ Association Inc. is committed to furthering the opportunities of WA ballet teachers to access professional training and development to enhance their teaching practice and career prospects. In addition to our regular educational events offered during the year, we encourage teachers to broaden their career options by obtaining formal qualifications in dance teaching.
One course of formal study highly recommended by WACBTA is the nationally recognised VET qualification CUA40320 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management. WACBTA has worked in association with Empowerdance Pty Ltd, a very experienced and well regarded RTO operating throughout Australia, to develop a classical ballet focused version of the generic Certificate IV. The core units are identical to the generic version, but the elective units recommended are particularly useful for classical ballet teachers.
WACBTA has sought, and continues to seek, the support of philanthropic individuals prepared to offer some financial support to teachers wishing to undertake the classical ballet version of the Cert IV. Part scholarships will be available for selected students for study commencing in 2024.

(Funding through WACBTA is available only for the classical ballet version of the Cert IV, not the generic version.)
